Michelle Jones

Cornerstone Academy’s founder and Head of School. She is a graduate of Northwest University with a BA in Elementary Education, NOVA Southeastern University with a MS in Educational Brain Research and Seattle Pacific University with her administrative credentials. Michelle loves to read, especially historical fiction. She spent many childhood summers daydreaming with Lucy Maude Montgomery and CS Lewis. She loves working at Cornerstone Academy where she gets to be with her four kids and see God working in the lives of so many families. John 10:10 “I have come so you may live life to the fullest”

Heather Carter

Welcomes you at our front desk each morning. Heather has a BS in Zoology from the University of Washington, which she jokes translates to kids as well. Her family loves nature and being active. They enjoy the company of their pets: one dog and two cats. Her two boys attend Cornerstone and they love the community that comes with it.

Kendra Hvattum

Our Pre-Kindergarten teacher. She has an AA in Integrated Studies and a certificate in International Event and Wedding Planning. She also works part time as a Children’s Director in a local church. She has always had a passion for kids and their growth both academically and spiritually. “There is something so special about when a child accepts Jesus into their heart, as well as when they write their name or read for the first time. I love being part of their journey and I am excited to see how God will use me!” Her favorite book is The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe since it parallels the Bible, and contains a constant battle between good and evil. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13, and she always comes back to it whenever she is unsure about anything.

Tracy Molina

Our kindergarten teacher is so crucial to our student's long term success. She has been teaching since 2004 when she graduated from Northern Arizona University with a BS followed by a Teaching Certificate from UW and is a certified Logos Scholar. Her favorite book is the Secret Garden. As a child, she loved the idea of a secret world. As an adult she loves how the characters change and develop throughout the novel. Mrs. Molina’s favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” It reminds her that God is in control and that she needs to trust Him in everything. Mrs. Molina lives in Snohomish with her husband, middle school son, and she has a daughter who is off to college.

Mary Lynne Bracewell

Our first and second grade teacher, discovered a love for teaching while volunteering in her children’s classrooms. She has a BA in Political Science from the University of Waterloo and her Masters in Teaching from City University. Her favorite literary figure is Laura Ingalls Wilder, and she especially loves to read the collections of articles Laura wrote for the newspaper. She finds her thoughts and ideas relevant to today, especially to the Christian woman. Mrs. Bracewell’s favorite verse is Phillipians 2:14 – “Do everything without complaining or arguing.” She holds this verse close to remind herself and students that God is in everything we do and say, and she enjoys helping students to find the joy even in their least favorite subjects. Mrs. Bracewell loves to read and travel with her husband and two sons.

Tracy Whitfield 

Our third grade teacher who has a BA in Political Science from Hillsdale College as well as her teaching credentials and is a certified Logos Scholar.  Tracy’s favorite historical figures are William Wilberforce and Dietrich Bonhoeffer because of their amazing examples of “ordinary” men who stood up for their faith and their beliefs at great costs.  She has found encouragement from Isaiah 41:10 in so many situations throughout her life. Tracy loves being outdoors, especially hiking.

Lacey Hvattum

Our fourth & fifth grade teacher who has a BA in Elementary Education with her K-8 Teaching Certificate, as well as her Masters in Teaching from Northwest University, and she is a certified Logos Scholar. She loves science fiction books because it presents humanity in different scenarios and causes her to wonder, “what if?” It is a stretch of her imagination and she finds this genre very entertaining! Lacey’s favorite verse is 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” She says she loves this verse because it helps remind her “life is not all about me! It may be hard at times, but God always has my back and is my strength in times of need.” She has one child in Beginning School and one child in Grammar School.

Kris Hvattum

Our Dean of Students and Middle School teacher. He has a BA in Biblical Literature and a Masters in Teaching from Northwest University. His favorite book is Mere Christianity because it helped him a lot early in his walk with Christ, and it continues to encourage him. Staying with the CS Lewis theme, Mr. Hvattum’s favorite literary character is Aslan the Lion because it helped him understand how God could be immeasurably powerful, yet gentle at the same time. Mr. Hvattum finds Philippians 2:5-11 helpful to know who he is in Christ. Mr. Hvattum and his wife both teach at Cornerstone Academy, and their two children attend as well.

Lea Tribble

Our art teacher and holds a BA in Art History from the University of Washington. Her favorite literary character is Samwise Gamgee because he is a faithful friend who musters up the courage to do and say what is right. Lea’s favorite bible verse is Psalm 139:13-14 “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful; I know that full well.” It illustrates God’s love and devotion to his children and to her. She can relate to the knitted in the womb imagery as a knitting mother herself. Lea has three boys and an orange tabby cat named Wilfrid Gordon Macdonald Partridge.
