Statement of Faith

The statement of faith adopted by the Cornerstone Academy Board is limited to primary Christian doctrine, which is considered to be central to all Christian denominations and which sets Protestant Christianity apart from other faiths. For our purposes, a Christian is one who has heard the word of truth, the Gospel (Colossians 1:5), as summarized in the statement below, and who has responded to that message in genuine repentance and faith. He confesses with his mouth and believes in his heart that Jesus is Lord, that He died for his sins, and that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9-10).

The following statement of faith is taken directly from the Cornerstone Academy By-Laws:

1. We believe the Bible alone to be the word of God, the ultimate and infallible authority for faith and practice.

2. We believe the Bible alone is the word of God, without error in the original manuscripts, completely written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, and the supreme authority for faith and conduct.

3. We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe in God the Father, our Creator. He can do all things. He is present to all creation, and has under His immediate authority all things which are in Heaven, in the earth, and under the earth. He knows all things. There is nothing that is impossible or unknown to Him. He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of men, hearing and answering prayer.

4. We believe in Jesus Christ God’s only Son. We believe He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. We believe He lived a sinless life, teaching and performing miracles. We believe He died for our sins, was resurrected, ascended into Heaven and He will visibly return to earth in power and glory to judge mankind.

5. We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father. We believe that the Holy Spirit lives in every believer of Christ and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide, convicting mankind of sin and empowering all who believe in Jesus Christ.

6. We believe that all men are born sinners and therefore need salvation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ alone as their savior are saved. We believe that salvation is a free gift of God, entirely apart from works, and is possessed by all who have, by faith, received the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.

7. We believe faith without works is dead.

8. We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
